Designing A Room For A Toddler
Once your little boy or girl has grown into a toddler, it’s time to start thinking about designing a room that will serve their needs up until adulthood. While infants tend to have different needs in terms of furniture and bedding, toddlers, children, and teenagers share much the same needs. For a toddler, parents should start with the bed. In most circumstances, a standard twin bed will be provide enough space even for an adult, though those who tend to move about in their sleep might find it lacking. Once decided on a frame and mattress, twin comforters and bedding tend to be quite plentiful and affordable when compared to other sizes.
In terms of furniture, standard pieces like a desk, bedside table, and childrens bookshelves are enough. Instead of purchasing furniture that’s designed for a toddler, save money by purchasing furniture to suit both kids and adults. Just make sure it doesn’t look too ‘kiddy’ or teenagers won’t want it in their room! Once you’ve covered bedding and furniture, the accessories should be more akin to the toddler’s likes and age. You can continue to update the accessories in the room over time, and keep the furniture much the same. Making a long term investment in quality bedding and furniture is always a good idea.
Reading From an Early Age

Reading to your children when they are young will not only strengthen your bond with them, but also improves their vocabulary and their brain power. It has been scientifically proven that reading to your children will help the development of their brain; whether they participate or not. Thus it’s important to introduce children to literature as soon as possible.
Reading a book before bed each night and casually throughout the week will work wonders enhancing your child’s mind. Make it a habit to set up a time before bed. Pick a few books, or borrow some from the library. When children are very young they won’t care so much what is read to them. Once they’re older and can understand the words, children’s books they can participate with are better. You might also consider items like a children’s bookshelf, a kids rocking chair, or a kids nightlight to make it a fun experience.
Tae Kwon Do can Teach Discipline and So Can Rockers
The importance of learning to follow instructions is taught in all athletic endeavors. My grandson David Brendon has learned so much taking Tae Kwon Do. He is only four but he can learn by listening. He is also a tactile learner as well as visual. But usually learning by listening comes as a child’s vocabulary matures. The fact that his mother has been able to stay home with him has meant a great deal. The family no longer lives in a brick home with a swimming pool but the change as been well worth the increase in David Brendon’s education. He knew the colors in Spanish at two. Now at four he can count to ten in Korean. He is able to follow a long sequence of steps during his Tae Kwon Do lessons. The two Masters that he is under are wonderful men. Both of the men are Christians. There is a lot of activity going on so that the students are not bored. Parents as well as coaches must keep the children active and keep the commands short.
Now if you child does not learn real fast, work with him for short periods of time. I believe that reward is the best motivator. Please do not embarrass or put down a child. This is child abuse in my mind. A child rocking chair is a good place for a time out if a child needs to be disciplined.
Excellent Gifts for a Baby Boy

It’s my opinion that shopping for baby girls is much easier than shopping for baby boys, as boys often have inquisitive minds but short attention spans, necessitating gifts that have provide a lasting interest. Boys will grow up with a love of gadgets and a curiosity of how things work, so when purchasing baby boy gifts, consider toys that light up, make sounds, and have movable (but safe!) parts. Most baby boys love a fun crib playset to kick and touch while they’re on their back. But don’t think boys don’t also enjoy a soft teddy bear to talk to and cuddle up with at night. The early years are also a good time to introduce boys to safe plastic workbenches and tools; every baby loves to hammer things!
Remember to avoid creating those embarrassing memories as well; no older boy wants to think back to when they played with Barbie dolls, or be reminded of it by chiding parents or relatives. Follow these simple steps to ensure that your gift isn’t relegated to the childrens toy storage.
Noah’s Ark Toy Chest is a Reminder of God
If you want to teach a child a habit, you better do every day. A high priority in our family is for our children to know Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit. I am so proud of my son who takes the time to read a Bible story, ask questions about the story and pray together with his son each evening. I can see the son learning and wanting the beliefs that his dad, my son has. Every morning that I am with the two I am awaken by them singing a praise hymn. Of course I do not recognize the song because it is very contemporary. I know and love the old hymns that are up lifting, but I have seen our youth worship with rock and roll. So I know we can praise God in many way, as He sees our hearts. It helps me to have the words shown. As I have gotten older it is hard to make out the words that are being sung to the drums, cymbals and electric guitars. But the words can bring joy to my heart and take me to a place where I am worshiping my God with these young whipper-snappers.
I guess all of this is why the Noah’s Ark collection is one of my favorites. Right on the top of the toy chest or the step up stool is the rainbow-God’s promise that he will not destroy our earth with a flood. I know that God is faithful to do what He says. And the best is that one day He will take me to live with Him. I have a reservation. Do you have one?![]()
Family Toys and Games are a Win-Win
Family toys and games have benefits other than just bringing families together to interact without cell phones, TVs, or computers between them. In addition to learning, many important life skills are an integral part of playing family games-skills such as cooperation, compromise, acceptance of both victory and defeat, being part of a team, patience, and honesty.
New research has begun to reveal that playing family games can help members who have suffered a stroke. Since the strategy used to play family games helps hone the brain’s ability to process information, elderly stroke victims can benefit. They may not be able to remember new information, but familiar family games are often something they can remember and participate in successfully. So be sure that your kid’s toy chest is filled with interactive and engaging toys and games.
Toy Chest Will Help Organize All Toys
Happy New Year. Now all of the children have toys with no place to store them. Shelves are great for large toys, but I still believe the toy chest is the best of general toys. The Chest that have dividers are nice. These toy boxes have the ability to help keep the toy assorted better than the one with no dividers. A few toy chest have a drawer are excellent for those small toys that seem to get lost at the bottom of the toy chest. I just finished going through my grand daughter’s toy boxes and putting the small collections in separate bins. She loves these small toys and will play with them for hours(some times all day) if they are together. She has a couple of small houses. One holds her horses while another holds her small animals. I am trying to get her to put them away in collections, but at two it is about all I can ask is for her to clean up by putting all the toys in the toy chest. I am always appreciative to whatever help that I can get at clean up time.
Sports Toy Chest- You Can Use Decals
Christmas is almost here. If you cannot find the sports toy chest that you are looking for to give as a gift, I would suggest that you buy a chest that is one of the teams colors. If you cannot buy one that is one of the teams colors then buy a white or natural color. Now buy some of your team’s decals. Decorate the chest with the decals. You now have your sport’s toy chest. I have only found the teams from the National Hockey League (NHL), the Major League Baseball (MLB), and the National Basketball Association ( NBA). Guide Craft has the franchise to these teams. They have really nice sport chest, step stools, and other furniture. The furniture will make a person want to yell, “Go Team”.
Toy Chest or Whatever
I love boxes-toy boxes, storage boxes, file boxes, and any other type box. I was about ten when I was given a toy box that was about 12″ L x 12″ W x 10″ H. I remember how satisfying it was to check out all of my treasures that it contained. One Christmas not too long ago, my sister picked up an old wooden box and painted it with four places that continually spark wonderful memories. I use it as a file box and an art object. I always get a compliment on it when friends see it for the first time.
I used decoupage to decorate a toy box with pirate treasure maps for my son when he was a teen. It was about the same size as my first toy box. He still has it at the age of forty. Where he used to keep toys in it, he now keeps important papers.
It would be easy for a person to may a standard toy chest into a special present for a loved one. It does not matter how you put you unique decorations on the box-by painting, decoupage, silk screening, or having your children color on the toy chest then make their art work permanent by spraying clear acrylic over it. The important thing is to do it with love and personality.
Toy Chest can be used as Activity Tables
Many company’s activity tables are out of stock at this time of the year. I would like to suggest that a toy chest bench will work great for a activity table. If you want to use it for a train track or some special item, just make sure that the chest is wide enough. Your child will have plenty of storage to keep the toys collected. The main thing is to have a surface where you as the child’s playmate can play with him (or her). It is hard for many of the grandparents to play on the floor. This is why even a coffee table is a good play surface. If you are afraid that the table will be scratched, I suggest that you get a piece of flannel to cover the table top.
Christmas is almost here and I hope that you can spent many hours enjoying you loved ones.
